TeXworks is an open-sourced authoring software for TeX documents. This free productivity app allows opening, editing, and exporting TeX files. On top of functioning as a TeX editor, this program also has PDF viewing capabilities. TeXworks is heavily inspired by the award-winning TeXshop app made by Dick Koch.
What is TeXworks?

The app is also Unicode, providing quick access settings for encoding styles. That also makes it easy to jump to any specific line of text on the fly.
The software also offers a large selection of helpful tools. More than the ability to jump to a specific line, there is also a search function, which allows you to find specific content. With this, replacing texts will be a lot easier. It also helps in copying and highlighting sections. On top of that, the app gives you the option to add and remove comments and even toggle line numbers.
To customize your document, it also lets you change the font style. You can also display syntax coloring and even get to choose the type of auto-indent mode and smart quotes. As a TeX-based editor, the app also offers various typesets. As noted, TeXworks also functions as a PDF reader. However, it does not allow you to edit documents and the interface changes slightly when viewing PDF files to accommodate new buttons.
